What Is Trenchless Pipe Lining?
Trenchless pipe replacement offers a more cost-effective and less invasive alternative to traditional pipe replacement. This is due to the reduction in digging required. We recommend pipe lining because it reduces cost and downtime while giving you new piping similar to what you would get with excavation.
Sewer pipe lining is a code approved process that actually manufactures a new pipe right inside the old one. That new pipe has the same strength characteristics as sewer and drain pipe purchased at a supply house. So the old pipe can completely rot away and the new liner will be fin on its own.
How Does Trenchless Pipe Lining Work?
As most of our minimally invasive services in Philadelphia, PA suburbs the process begins with a video inspection of the sewer or drain pipe to see exactly what the issue is and where it is. Pipe lining can be used on both inside pipes and outside pipes.
The best results for CIPP pipe lining begin with preparing the old piping. Pipeshark has special camera assisted de-scalers to first clean the old pipe thoroughly. Then a felt sock sized for the pipe is measured out and then impregnated with an epoxy designed for this purpose. A strict process includes running the coated felt through calibrated rollers to ensure that the thickness of the new pipe will be uniformly correct.
The liner is then inserted into the old piping with an inverter which turns the liner inside out so the “wet” epoxy side is against the old pipe. A calibration tube is inserted inside the liner and inflated first with air and then with water to push the liner tight against the old pipe. The water in the calibration tube is then circulated through a water heater and the temperature is monitored to keep it at the ideal curing temperature of the epoxy. Once the epoxy has hardened, the calibration tube is removed and a video inspection of the new pipe is performed. The piping is then reconnected and put back into service.
What Are the Advantages of Trenchless Pipe Lining?
The primary advantages of trenchless pipe lining are cost, convenience, and reduced aggravation. Trenchless pipe lining of cast iron piping in Philadelphia, PA area homes saves opening up floors and walls and the cost of repairing those structures when the pipe is renewed. The liner pipe is designed to meet the same specs as sewer and drain pipe and so is expected to match that piping’s lifespan. We offer trenchless pipe lining in these locations as well:
