The Pipe Lining Company Philadelphia, PA, Suburb Can Depend On
When you have to call a plumber in Philadelphia, PA suburbs, make it Pipeshark, the home of trenchless pipe repair. As third-generation plumbers, we did all kinds of plumbing for over 35 years before purchasing our first piece of trenchless equipment. We were so impressed with how much could be done with such little disturbance that we have made it our specialty for more than 15 years. We expanded from that first piece of equipment into now having all the trenchless technologies.
Here is a look at our range of plumbing services in Philadelphia, PA suburbs:
Trenchless Sewer Repair
Sewer line replacement or trenchless sewer repair used to mean tearing apart your landscaping or hardscapes like the driveway or patio, but that does not have to be the process any longer. There’s a whole new plumbing industry called “trenchless” because it includes technologies which allow hard-to-access piping to be repaired or replaced without digging up the whole pipe — or open up floors and walls. In the Philadelphia, PA suburbs, the trenchless company which has ALL the trenchless technologies under one roof is Pipeshark. Trenchless saves you money and time and a lot of disturbance.
Trenchless Pipe Lining
Trenchless pipe lining is a trenchless technology that actually manufactures a new pipe right inside the old one. Its official name is Cured-In-Place Piping or CIPP and it has its own code and its approval has gone through very strict quality reviews. A felt tube sized to the old pipe is saturated with epoxy to a specific thickness. The impregnated felt tube is inserted into the old pipe and then a bladder called a calibration tube is inserted inside the felt and this calibration tube is inflated with first air and then water to push the epoxied felt tight against the old pipe. The water is circulated through a heater until it reaches a temperature that “cooks” the epoxy into a solid new pipe. That new pipe has the same strength characteristics as sewer and drain pipe bought from the supply house. So the old piping can rot totally away and the new liner is strong enough to stand on its own. It’s a great option when repairing a pipe that runs under the floor or in a wall or runs out your basement wall underground to the outside.
Trenchless Pipe Bursting
Another trenchless technology is pipe bursting. If your pipe lining company in Philadelphia, PA suburbs says that your sewer line is collapsed, pipe lining would not be your best choice because why would you want to line a collapsed pipe? In such cases of a severely broken sewer or even a collapsed sewer, the better choice is trenchless pipe bursting. Because pipe bursting pulls a bullet-shaped bursting head through the old pipe and since the head is a little larger than the pipe, it breaks the old pipe and pushes it into the surrounding soil just a little. Then attached to the back of the bursting head is the new pipe so the old pipe is pushed aside and the new pipe is installed in one action. The new pipe is high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and is the same pipe that’s used for gas mains. The joints are fused together and become stronger than the pipe itself. So the new pipe is really one solid pipe with no joints to ever leak or allow roots to get in. Pipe bursting is a great choice when it is not difficult to access each end of the piping to be replaced.
Trenchless Point Repairs
When a pipe is in good condition and there is only one issue, a trenchless point repair may be the best option. It is similar to pipe lining but the repair is limited to a few feet and is done by sliding a patch wrapped around a deflated bladder down the old piping to where the problem is. Once in place, the bladder is inflated tight against the old pipe until the patch has hardened. Then the bladder is removed and the line is put back into service.
Trenchless Pipe Coating
Old piping can be given a new lease on life with Pipe Coating. The old pipe is cleaned, descaled, and flushed cleaned. Then a polyurea coating is applied in multiple layers to give the old piping a new inside layer that is resistant to just about everything. This works well on smaller pipe and on pipe that has a lot of connections to it. We are manufacturer certified on its application which is code approved.
Trenchless Slip Lining
Trenchless slip lining is inserting a new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe through an old pipe. The HDPE pipe sections are either fused or snap-locked together so the outside diameter doesn’t change as it would with a pipe connected with couplings, thus allowing for the largest new pipe possible to be inserted into the old. This is typically done on pipe 18″ and above. It is often used on old corrugated metal pipe (CMP) that has rusted through. The better flow characteristics of the new HDPE often means that there is no loss in the flow capacity of the pipe with the new HDPE installed.
